Immigrant and refugee families in the United States have the habit of bringing their grandmothers to assist them in looking after their young children while at work. The grandmothers go through various culture shocks, such as difficulty understanding English, exposure to new customs, and lack of social association with friends. African Wisdom Connections Organization aims to set up a program to address grandmothers’ challenges by visiting each other. The Colorado Denver Community has about 50+ grandmothers who would benefit from these initiatives.
