Pst. Jemimah Ngatia

Chair-Lady

Rev. Dr. Jemimah  Ngatia was born and raised in Kenya, East Africa. A born-again Christian, mother of two daughters, grandmother to two girls and two boys, great-grandmother to three boys, and many spiritual children. In her career, she worked as a Hospital chaplain at Kenyatta National Hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in East Africa. While working as a chaplain, she received a call from God to become a full-time minister. On August 22, 1992, Presbyterian Church Kenya offered her a scholarship to study theology in the USA. In the USA God has opened and continues to open doors of opportunities. This far, God has helped me advance my education in areas of pastoral care; in 2002, she graduated with a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary. In 2004  from Chicago Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry. On November 12, 2005, my ordination as the First woman from Africa by the Presbyterian Church USA and a minister of the Word and Sacrament. That was a game-changer in history in the making. In 2014 my late husband and I relocated to Denver to join our grandson and his family. In February 2016, my family and I started a Church named Neema African Presbyterian Church. I am currently a Pastor of Neema African Presbyterian church. The vision of our church is to welcome and support African immigrants and refugees from African countries. I am the writer and Author of the book. Titled “Lifted by Hope.” How I overcame the Barriers of becoming the First woman ordained by Presbyterian Church USA from Africa.

Rev. Melissa M. Rogers

Secretary

Rev. Melissa Rogers Malumbe, the esteemed Secretary of AWCO, is a mother and grandmother who, along with her loving family, embraces a life of faith and trusts wholeheartedly in their Creator. She holds various academic degrees, a BA in Biblical Studies from Liberty University in West Virginia, USA, a BA in Business Administration from N U. Kenya, and a BA in Banking from the UK School of Banking. In addition, she holds a Diploma in Certified Nursing Assistance, complete with Q.MAP, CPR, and First Aid certifications. A gifted preacher and teacher of the Word of God, Rev. Malumbe dedicates herself to providing spiritual guidance and support as a counselor and sharing her wisdom and insights as a speaker at women’s conferences. She is passionate about her work and driven by her faith. She finds great satisfaction in her contributions to her community through her role at AWCO.

Mary Mosha

Treasurer

Mary Moshe holds the position of Treasurer on the Board of Directors at AWCO. As a devoted Christian, mother of two children, and adoptive mother to several others, she embraces her role as a loving parent and grandparent to four cherished grandchildren. Professionally, Mary is a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and a dedicated caregiver. Her work is driven by her deep-rooted passion for helping others, which she combines with her diverse interests in cooking, traveling, and cultivating meaningful connections with those she encounters. As a co-founder of AWCO in 2021, Mary has been an integral support to the organization as Treasurer. AWCO’s mission is to nurture and strengthen the community by promoting wisdom, knowledge, support, and love. Mary’s unwavering dedication and contributions continue to play a crucial part in realizing these goals.

Rose Oyugi

Vice Chair-Lady

Rosmary Oyugi is a woman who wears many hats. Among them, she is a business owner with a B.A. in Business Administration, passionate about changing lives. She loves her work and what she does because of the love she receives from the community. She is a Eucharist minister at Queen of Peace and a teacher whose students are her biggest passion. “I’d like to think that people I’ve crossed paths with have learned something from me, and I’ve learned a great deal from them, for which I am very grateful. I have dedicated much of my teaching to helping young folks realize how they need to be able to work and love others, especially those who are very different from themselves.” Rosmary is from Kenya and has lived in Denver for 22 years.
